For a more intensive clean, it’s a good idea to soak the coils. Ethanol, vodka or vinegar are your top options. Warm water is another good alternative.

Soak the coil overnight to break up the residue build-up even from the nooks and crannies you can’t reach with the Q-tip. Soaking is also a great option if you haven’t wiped your coil using Q-tips for long.
